Shiken

Record a meeting

The ways to record a meeting in Shiken, from a notetaker in the call to in-person audio, and which one to pick.

  1. Go to Notes (/notes) and press Join meeting.
  2. Paste the link for a live or upcoming Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Webex call.
  3. Press Send notetaker.

The notetaker joins the call as a participant, transcribes it and saves a note with a summary. This is the quickest route, and there are four others.

Which route to pick

  • Notetaker, sent by hand: for a call that is live or about to start. Nothing to install, but everyone sees the notetaker in the call.
  • Notetaker, from your calendar: for regular meetings you want recorded automatically. See the calendar guide.
  • Shiken Desktop: when you do not want a bot in the call. It records Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls on your own machine. Download it from /downloads and sign in with your usual account. It can start by itself or only when you press Record. It is available for Apple Silicon Macs only; there is no Windows or Intel Mac version.
  • Shiken recorder app on iPhone: for in-person meetings. Your organisation can choose which controls appear in the app.
  • In the browser, or from a file: for in-person meetings without the app. On /chat, press Create Note, then Record Audio. To use an existing recording, press Add Media on /notes. It takes common audio and video files such as MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4 and MOV, up to 500 MB on a free plan and 1 GB on a paid plan.

Whichever route you use, the result appears in Notes.

Recording is part of the full Shiken platform. If Join meeting is missing, your organisation's plan does not include meetings or they are switched off for your organisation.
