How does Shiken compare to Microsoft Teams + Copilot?

Copilot answers one question well: what was said in this Teams meeting, and, since the Copilot mobile app gained a Record feature in 2026, in an in-person conversation. With the right licensing it produces recaps, drafts follow-ups and saves notes to your CRM via the Sales agent. Shiken answers a different question: what should happen because of every conversation your business has, on Teams, Zoom, Meet, phone or in person? Every call is captured with a bot or bot-free, scored against your own rubric with per-speaker delivery analytics, and turned into the outputs your team runs on: CRM updates, follow-ups, courses, quizzes and AI roleplay practice.

We already pay for Microsoft 365, is Copilot included?

Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 include Teams recording and transcription. AI meeting notes need Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot on top; at the time of our October 2026 review Microsoft’s published list prices were about $10 and $30 per user per month respectively, so check Microsoft’s pricing page for your region and agreement. Custom recap templates and CRM notes need Copilot, and conversation intelligence needs Dynamics 365 Sales Premium. Shiken is usage-based or a flat organisation licence, so you do not buy a per-seat AI licence for every employee who attends meetings.

All our calls happen in Teams, so why would we add Shiken?

All of them, including the Zoom or Meet calls your customers host? Those are not described in Microsoft’s Copilot materials. And for Teams meetings, Copilot stops at documentation, while Teams Speaker Coach gives private feedback on pace and filler words. Shiken adds the layer Microsoft’s published materials do not describe: scorecards against your sales, service or compliance rubric on every call, AI roleplay drills built from the exact moments a rep fumbled, voice agents that speak live in meetings, and meetings turned into searchable learning content. Most teams run Shiken alongside their Copilot deployment.

Can our IT team build the same workflows with Power Automate and Graph?

Microsoft provides the components: Copilot for recaps, the Sales agent for CRM notes, Power Automate and the Graph API for automation, Dynamics for conversation intelligence. The question is whether you want to configure and operate that stack across five products, or use a purpose-built platform where those workflows are packaged, work identically on every meeting platform, and include coaching and practice. Shiken is the finished workflow on day one.

What are voice agents?

Shiken’s AI coaches and roleplay avatars speak. An AI coach can join and talk in your Teams meetings, and roleplay avatars run live practice conversations: discovery calls, objection handling, difficult feedback, language practice. Copilot answers prompts in and around a meeting; as of October 2026 Microsoft’s published materials do not describe an agent that speaks as a participant in your meetings or runs voice roleplays.

How does governance compare to Purview?

Microsoft Purview offers retention controls for Teams meetings and Microsoft 365 content. It does not describe coverage for the Zoom call your customer hosted, or a third-party note-taker an employee installed for it. Shiken gives you one policy surface for every conversation on every platform: retention windows, consent profiles per region and meeting type, sharing scope, and a contractual guarantee that your data is never used for model training. SOC 2, ISO 27001, SSO/SAML and role-based access are included.

Do we have to rip out Copilot to use Shiken?

No. Shiken runs alongside your existing Microsoft stack: it joins the same Teams meetings, syncs to Dynamics 365 and HubSpot, and delivers notes into Teams channels. Most enterprise customers pilot Shiken with one team’s real calls, compare the outputs against their current recaps for a couple of weeks, and expand from there.

How does pricing compare?

The fully assembled Microsoft route is roughly $66 per user per month at published list prices for Microsoft 365 E3 plus Microsoft 365 Copilot, before Dynamics conversation intelligence or any integration build, and it covers Teams and in-person voice notes only. Shiken is usage-based or a fixed organisation licence: pay for what you record, or a flat price for unlimited recording. There is a free tier to evaluate, and enterprise plans add SSO/SAML, admin retention and consent controls, and API access. Microsoft’s prices change; confirm them on microsoft.com.
