Create an AI agent

Build an AI agent for your organisation, give it knowledge and instructions, and find your way around its tabs.

  1. Go to AI agents (/org/{slug}/admin/agents) and press Create Agent.
  2. On Sources, tick the documents this agent should use, then press Continue.
  3. On Appearance, set the Widget Name, Greeting Message and Primary Color, then press Continue. The Widget Name becomes the agent's name.
  4. On Personality, choose a Template, then edit the personality and the Instructions (System Prompt).
  5. Press Continue, check the Review step, and press Create Agent.

Organisation admins can do this. On some packages, the entry is shown to owners only.

Choose sources carefully. If you tick nothing, the agent reads all your organisation's knowledge. If you tick documents, it reads only those. The agent's page has no control for changing this selection after it is created, so create a new agent if you need a different set. Restricted collections still apply: see the collections guide.

What an agent can do: answer from your knowledge, use custom skills that call your own tools or webhooks, use connected apps, and reply in the channels you switch on.

Tabs on an agent's page (/org/{slug}/admin/agents/{id})

  • Setup: General, Personality and Model Configuration. General also lets you give the agent its own Email address.
  • Tools: Custom Skills and Connectors.
  • Channels: where it answers, and its write policy per channel.
  • Widget: how its chat widget looks.
  • Guardrails: behavioural rules the agent always follows.
  • Analytics: usage and Chat Logs.
  • Share: deployment, link and embed code.

The main AI agents page also has organisation-wide Analytics, Tools, Chat Logs and Escalations tabs.

Personal agents are separate. You can make one for your own chats at /chat/agents.
