Question 1

What is the best LMS for small to medium businesses?

Accepted Answer

For small to medium businesses, the best LMS is one that is quick to set up, easy to manage without a dedicated L&D team, and affordable as you grow. Shiken fits this profile by offering AI-powered content creation that turns documents, URLs, and notes into interactive courses in minutes. Enterprise platforms such as Docebo and Cornerstone are sold by quote and deployed as implementation projects; Shiken is self-serve and can be up and running the same day. The free plan includes core features, and premium plans are priced for growing teams rather than enterprise budgets.

Question 2

How does Shiken compare to Docebo?

Accepted Answer

Docebo is a powerful enterprise LMS with deep integrations, compliance workflows, Docebo Creator for AI content generation and, as add-ons, AI roleplay and gamified learning. It is designed for large organizations with dedicated L&D departments, typically 250+ learners on one-year minimum contracts. Shiken takes a different approach: self-serve, with AI generation of courses, quizzes, slides and roleplays from your own documents and calls, plus a meeting recorder that scores real conversations against the same rubrics as practice. If you need enterprise-scale compliance administration, Docebo may be the better fit. If you want faster content creation, practice tied to real calls and a free plan to start, Shiken wins.

Question 3

Can Shiken replace a traditional LMS like Cornerstone?

Accepted Answer

Shiken can replace Cornerstone for many training use cases — especially onboarding, skills development, and ongoing knowledge reinforcement. Where Shiken differs is in its approach: rather than managing formal course catalogs and compliance tracking, Shiken focuses on creating engaging, AI-powered microlearning that people actually complete. If your primary need is HR compliance and regulatory audit trails, you may still need a traditional LMS. But for the majority of corporate training — product knowledge, soft skills, customer training — Shiken delivers better engagement and faster content creation.

Question 4

Does Shiken support SCORM content?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Shiken imports SCORM packages on all plans and exports SCORM on Enterprise plans, so existing modules can be hosted and tracked alongside the quizzes, flashcards, courses and roleplay scenarios its AI generates. If you have a large SCORM library, you can run Shiken alongside your current LMS during a transition and regenerate your most important courses with Shiken's AI tools.

Question 5

What makes Shiken different from Rise by Articulate?

Accepted Answer

Rise by Articulate is a strong course authoring tool with polished templates and responsive design. Shiken differs in three key ways. First, breadth of generation: Rise’s AI Assistant drafts content and knowledge checks from a source document, while Shiken generates a complete interactive course plus quizzes, flashcards, slides and roleplay scenarios from a document, URL, call or topic. Second, Shiken includes gamification mechanics like spaced repetition, streaks and leaderboards that drive ongoing engagement, which Rise’s published materials do not describe. Third, Shiken offers conversational AI roleplays for scenario-based practice; Rise offers a branching scenario block rather than a conversation with an AI character. Rise is ideal if you have instructional designers building polished courses; Shiken is better when you need to create training fast and keep learners coming back.
