There are four main types of surgery: open surgery, laparoscopic surgery, endoscopic surgery, and robotic surgery.

Open surgery is the oldest form of modern surgery and is usually done in an operating room with the patient under anaesthesia. In this type of surgery, an incision is made in the skin and underlying tissues and muscles to access the area of the body that needs treatment.

In addition to the educational requirements, surgeons must also have a valid license from the state in which they are practicing medicine. This means you must pass an exam that assesses your expertise in performing surgeries.

The time frame for becoming a fully qualified surgeon depends on the medical specialty you choose. General surgeons may take six to eight years after college, while neurosurgeons may take up to 10 years or longer. There is no denying that a lot of hard work and dedication are required to become a surgeon.
